Turkey Confirms Support for Pakistan
The discussion reflected Ankara’s proactive stance on promoting regional stability in South Asia.
As per a statement from the Turkish Communications Directorate, the call centered on the growing strain between India and Pakistan, specifically highlighting the incident that took place on the night of May 6 and other recent developments.
The dialogue underscored concerns over the volatile situation in the region.
“In the call, President Erdogan expressed Turkey's solidarity with Pakistan, extended his condolences to the Pakistani martyrs of the attack, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured,” according to the directorate’s post on X.
These remarks emphasize Turkey’s empathetic stance toward Pakistan’s losses.
Erdogan conveyed his backing for Islamabad’s “calm and measured approach” in dealing with the crisis.
He also endorsed Pakistan's call for an impartial and trustworthy global probe into the April 22 incident in Jammu and Kashmir, calling it a reasonable step toward clarity and accountability.
On the same day, Pakistani officials reported that at least 26 civilians lost their lives and 46 more sustained injuries due to India’s “Operation Sindoor” in Pakistani and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir territories.
India, meanwhile, stated that the operation was aimed at dismantling “terrorist infrastructure” within Pakistani borders.
