Trilateral US-Iran-Pakistan Talks Continue into Sunday in Islamabad

(MENAFN) Diplomatic negotiations involving the United States, Iran, and Pakistan have extended into a second day in Islamabad, according to reports citing sources within the Pakistani government.

The discussions, which began on Saturday, reportedly resumed after a dinner break around midnight and continued into Sunday. Sources described the atmosphere as “normal” and “positive,” suggesting gradual but careful movement in the talks.

A senior official from the White House confirmed that in-person negotiations were still underway early Sunday morning at approximately 1:55 a.m. local time (2055 GMT).

The current round of diplomacy followed earlier indirect exchanges between the parties, which eventually transitioned into direct face-to-face discussions. Before pauses for meals, delegations also exchanged written documents, indicating structured and measured communication between the sides.

According to sources, the delegations have now been engaged in discussions for more than seven hours in total, with intermittent breaks throughout the process.

The United States delegation is reportedly led by Vice President JD Vance, accompanied by special envoy Steve Witkoff and senior adviser Jared Kushner.

On the Iranian side, the delegation is headed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, with participation from Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and senior security official Ali Bagheri Kani.

Officials involved in the process have indicated that while the talks remain sensitive, the continuation into a second day reflects ongoing engagement and tentative diplomatic momentum.
